1. UN38.3 이란

    UN(United Nations)에서 발행한 위험물운송 관련 위험물에 대한 시험 및 기준에 대한 매뉴얼

    [Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS(Manual of Tests and Criteria)]로

    이 매뉴얼의 38.3항에 언급된 Lithium Ion Battery(Cell & Pack)에 대한 시험 항목과 기준에 대한 규정입니다

    (UN/DOT 38.3 : The United Nations/The Department of Transportation 38.3)

2. UN 38.3의 목적

    리튬 배터리를 항공, 해상 또는 육로로 운송 할 때 안전을 보장하기 위하여 관련 국제 표준을 규정한 것입니다.

     IATA(The International Air Transport Association)에서는 이를 근거로 모든 배터리는 UN38.3시험을 통과한

    증빙을 제출해야만 운송할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.

3. 분류

    - UN 3480, Lithium ion batteries(Cell만 포장 운송)

    - UN 3481, Lithium ion batteries contained in equipment(Pack 분리포장 운송)

    - UN 3481, Lithium ion batteries packed with equipment(Pack 조립포장 운송)

4. 시험항목

     T1 – Altitude Simulation (Primary and Secondary Cells and Batteries)
     T2 – Thermal Test (Primary and Secondary Cells and Batteries)
     T3 – Vibration (Primary and Secondary Cells and Batteries)
     T4 – Shock (Primary and Secondary Cells and Batteries)
     T5 – External Short Circuit (Primary and Secondary Cells and Batteries)
     T6 – Impact (Primary and Secondary Cells)
     T7 – Overcharge (Secondary Batteries)
     T8 – Forced Discharge (Primary and Secondary Cells)

5. UN에서는 권고사항으로 제시하였으나 Global 운송사들(DHL, UPS, Fedex, Forwarders..)은

   배터리 제품 선적시 UN38.3  Test Report 제출를 요구하고 있으며,

   일부 운송사는 여기에 더하여 MSDS(Material Safety Data Sheet) 자료까지 요청합니다.
